No matter the time of the year, your home will thank you for a truly thorough clean from attic to basement.
Hoover each step thoroughly, clean the windows inside and out, throw out any old paperwork, polish your wooden furniture and replace anything that’s broken or a bummer to look at.
If you want to go a step (or three) further, organize your computer desktop by going through all of your files, including your photos and documents, throwing away all unwanted files.
You’ll burn some serious calories and you’ll end up with a squeaky clean home that’ll also feel great to be in and impress your friends and family at the same time.
Cleaning and Organizing Items Under Beds
If you have storage under the beds in your home, drag everything out and go through every individual item you find. You can throw away or donate anything you no longer need or like and organize everything that’s left into sections so you can quickly and easily find what you’re looking for in the future.
Polish Your Silverware
Ok, obviously, you’ll need to actually have some silverware in order to be able to polish it but if you do, you might find this rather odd idea a good calorie burner.
This might seem like an odd tip, mainly because people under around 40 don’t tend to have a lot of, if any, silverware in their homes. It’s not massively trendy anymore like it was in the ’70s, yet giving any silverware you have a good polishing can definitely help to burn some extra calories!
The more you have to polish, the better and you might find that it’s actually a little therapeutic too.
Visit a Large Museum, Gallery or Exhibition
When you’re enjoying yourself, time can fly and you don’t even notice it. You’ll also get some great exercise with all that walking around!

Being in the garden and close to nature can be so incredibly relaxing, especially when the weather is good.
Your skin can make some Vitamin D, which is great for boosting immunity and it also helps your body to absorb minerals like calcium and magnesium.
Do Something Intellectually Challenging
When we problem solve, read, think deeply, we’re also burning calories. And have you noticed just how much time flies by when you’re working intensely on something? Find a puzzle online to complete or maybe take a few IQ tests for fun!
Clean Your Windows
This is probably an obvious activity for burning calories and you’ll have to have a god few windows in your home to make this a calorie burning exercise BUT, it can be really rewarding to look out of clear windows and you’ll definitely be saving a lot of money too as professional window cleaning can be pretty costly.
Play Games with the Kids
This is a pretty obvious one because if you have kids, you’ll probably naturally be doing this in your spare time anyway BUT, the next time you play some games, choose some which will get you running around with them a lot more. Depending on how old they are, you can play hide and seek, hunting Easter eggs, and even some sporting games such as football, Rounders, or tennis.
Train Your Dog
Have you ever thought about training your dog? This might get tougher as your pet grows older, but it’s still possible for many older dogs to learn new habits and tricks!
You’ll be spending a bit more time with your beloved pet AND burn many calories because you’ll likely have to do quite a bit of running around after them!
Wash Your Car
Give your car a through wash and a deep clean inside! You’ll save yourself a bit of money and burn through a good few calories at the same time.
You can hoover the seats and the trunk. go over all surfaces with a cloth, clear out all the ask trays and cup holders etc. Your car will thank you for it and you’ll be proud of your deep clean. It’s also really nice to get into a clean car!
