7 Effortless Ways to Detoxify Your Body

Low air quality, hectic schedules, and poor diets almost define today’s world. Making sure you detoxify yourself now and again can really help your body to stay in balance and working as it should be.

Detoxifying also doesn’t have to be hard. It mainly consists of eating healthier foods and drinking nutritious juices and shakes.

Drink Plenty of High-Quality Water 

We all know that we should be drinking at least eight glasses of water a day but there’s water and then there’s water. Choose filtered water, mineral water or even distilled water over tap water or cheap mineral water containing lots of fluoride.

If you don’t enjoy the taste of plain water, try adding a few drops of lemon, lime or even orange or clementine to it and then placing it in the fridge for an hour until cool. It should be a little bit more refreshing and definitely tastier.
If you opt for distilled water, you might like to add a very tiny amount of Himalayan salt crystals to it to remineralize it with electrolytes. Be careful to add the right amount as too much can cause severe sickness.

Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting is a great way to lessen the load on your liver and help your body cleanse itself. If you don’t want to, or can’t fast consistently due to an illness, you might like to try out intermittent fasting. This is fasting that is only done sporadically. You could try drinking a glass of mineral water after getting up in the morning and then going without eating anything until lunchtime.

If the idea of fasting doesn’t appeal to you in any shape or form, just try eating less some days out of the week and that should help with the detoxification process.

Drink Matcha Tea

Matcha tea has been proven time and time again to be a powerful detoxification drink. It’s also super tasty and can be made into a latte or iced drink. If you find Matcha tea a little too strong for you, try organic green tea instead. It’s just very slightly milder than Matcha tea.

Most herbal teas, whatever they may be, can be very cleansing and soothing to the body when taken in the right amount.

Spend More Time in Nature

Take your shoes off and connect with the Earth in a leafy garden, park or beach. Take deep breaths of the surrounding clean air and exhale slowly. Slowing down and feeling better means less stress and less amount of stress we have in our lives, the better our bodies – and minds, will work.

Take an Iodine Supplement

Iodine can help to detox your body and plenty of people around the world are pretty low on it. If you don’t want to take a supplement, the following foods are rich in it:

  • Most fish (tuna, cod, salmon)
  • Shellfish (shrimp, lobster, crab, oysters)
  • Dairy products (milk, yogurt, cheese)
  • Seaweed

A more natural supplement would be organic kelp. This comes in powder form which can be added to juices, plain water and smoothies, and capsule form.

If you can’t stand the thought of running, jogging or working out at the gym every day, just go for a power walk for 20-30 minutes each day. You can walk several times around your neighbourhood or drive to a local park or recreational area and go walking around there. If you think it’ll be boring, load up your smartphone with some of your favorite tunes or take a friend or your partner with you :). 

Walking is such a gentle and easy way to exercise and the health benefits are numerous and impressive. It can help the liver to work more effectively and in turn, this helps with the body’s natural detoxification process. 


Personally, I like to walk and jog for around 20-30 minutes each day after work and take an organic kelp supplement once a day. That’s the easiest and fastest way for me to get some detoxing done!
